Stephanie Leen is the Judaic Specialist at the Early Learning School at the Denver Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center. Stephanie teaches 150 children of all age groups, which gives her unique opportunities to incorporate the universal values embedded in Judaism into their Reggio inspired, emergent curriculum. Stephanie brings awareness to families and communities about the importance of early literacy intervention at home and school. She also supports educators in incorporating the native languages of children into their classroom environments, therefore making it a more inclusive place to learn. Stephanie is currently researching how children’s exposure to cultures other than their own can help shape their identity and foster positive attitudes towards the differences and similarities that exist among all people. By taking a more in-depth look at how the brain is shaped regarding emotional wiring, she uses those findings to support how early experiences with a variety of people can be a foundation for children's social development and abate bias and prejudice.
