Anshe Emet Synagogue
Director of Family Life & Learning
Chicago, IL
I am the Director of Family Life & Learning at Anshe Emet Synagogue in Chicago, where I do my best to create pathways to Jewish life and community for families with young children. I bake a mean challah, and I am passionate about chocolate.
I'm a graduate of the Rhea Hirsch School of Education of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, and Pacific Oaks College, and UW Madison. I am both an RJE and a CJE. I was in MTEI Cohort 6 and the Wexner Heritage Foundation Chicago Pro '99 Cohort.
I wrote Early Childhood Staff Meeting Shiurim: The Collection (USCJ, 2011), Vision for Conservative Early Childhood Programs: A Journey Guide (USCJ, 2009), Jewish Every Day: The Complete Handbook for Early Childhood Teachers (A.R.E. Publishing, 2000), The Shabbat Angels (UAHC Press, 2003) and What’s Jewish About Butterflies (A.R.E. Publishing, 2004) (now almost all those things are published by Behrman House. Thanks, Terry!). I'm a professional storyteller, and I live near Wrigley Field in Chicago with my husband, and one teenaged daughter who is desperately trying to get to Israel for the second half of her Junior year of high school (damn pandemic) (her sister is already there for the year on Hevruta). I'm letting my stranded teen foster THREE puppies for the extra two weeks she is stuck at home with us. THREE.
