Paradigm Project Fifth Annual Conference

Many adults feel uncomfortable discussing death with children. As caregivers we hope they
avoid the experience of losing a loved one for as long as possible. However, if a time of loss
occurs, we must be honest and empathetic resources in their corner. When a child is dealing
with this profound challenge, they often have questions and need support in exploring their
feelings. This session will give participants a space to learn and delve into appropriate and respectful ways to guide students through their personal experiences with death.

In Hebrew, L’hitraot is used to say “until we meet again.” The life cycle is a natural part of the
human experience, and is celebrated throughout Judaism. We will explore important
conversations about death through a Jewish lens during our time together. This session is
designed for all educators, with the intention that knowledge and execution of these meaningful
strategies can be attainable for an educator in many settings or roles.
